Weird and Wonderful Homes
Happy Saturday, I hope you are all enjoying the weekend?
The other day I received an e-book created by Chill Insurance and it really got me thinking..besides fashion of course, my favourite thing to search for on Pinterest is Interior Design and Home DIY projects.
We just recently repainted and changed the flooring in my sons bedroom, it’s amazing the difference a bit of paint can make. We also repainted our kitchen and retiled our kitchen floor, when I say retiled I mean we got rid of the most hideous tile like laminate flooring that I have been wanting to change since we bought our house 8 years ago. You wouldn’t believe the difference it actually made to the whole kitchen! Next on my list is our own bedroom so I have been scrawling through Pinterest getting so much inspiration!
Getting back to the e-book, Chill Insurance shared the results of a recent poll which explored our attitudes to the places we call our own. When asked what best describes the value of their homes, 45% of respondents said making memories with their families. This really got me thinking about #WhatHomeIsToMe. To me home is not just my house and everything in it. It is my 3 beautiful children, my loving husband and our two dogs. My home would not be a home if they were not in it. We have made so many memories in our home since our first little lady arrived 6 years ago. We have so many family traditions already, like making a certain orange chocolate dessert every year for the Toy Show! It’s all these simple and little traditions that will stick in their minds as they grow and this is what they will remember when they look back.
Also in the e-book were some amazing unusual residences from around the world! Have a look and let me know what your favourite one is! My favourite is definitely Drummond Tower, maybe I am biased because it is in Ireland but I think it sounds fabulous!
There was one thing in the e-book though that I found quite shocking and maybe this is because before fashion I actually working in the Insurance industry for 11 years but I could not believe that 24% of respondents revealed that they do not know what is covered under their home insurance policies!! If you are one of the 24% please pull out your Insurance schedule and policy booklet and get reading!! It may not seem important now but trust me it really is!
I hope you all enjoyed this post and I would love to hear what home means to you, if you would like to join in on the conversation use the hashtag #whathomeistome!
Lots of Love,
